About the Role:

We are looking for a forward thinking individual with a strong work ethic to provide exceptional IT Service that supports the business functions through end-user service, day-to-day operational support of infrastructure, execution of (un)planned recovery, and wider project initiatives, whilst maintaining a secure and stable environment. Main duties and responsibilities:

All aspects of IT including, but not limited to:

  • Respond to user and service requests on a timely basis, adhering to SLA’s as directed
  • Maintain technology infrastructure, providing Operational stability by following and using the tools, policies, processes and procedures available
  • Monitor performance, health and availability of host machines and infrastructure services
  • Manage capacity of the environment
  • Resolve incidents impacting hosts or the environment, investigate root cause, and undertake problem management
  • Create, review, maintain and update documentation, publishing fixes when identified
  • Regularly re-evaluate processes and procedures, finding gaps where they exist and plugging them
  • Instigate service improvement initiatives
  • Provide reporting and metrics
  • Dissemination of knowledge amongst colleagues
  • Integrate & Interact with regional and global colleagues, providing innovative ideas
  • Evaluate, discuss, listen to and re-think ideas to move forwards in a productive manner
  • Communicate & keep people informed
  • Provide a secure environment, managing and mitigating risks
  • Maximise the use of existing resources, skills and technologies for the greatest benefit
  • Input into, improve, and execute on business continuity and disaster recovery practices
  • Active participation within and amongst teams & colleagues, providing constructive input and feedback
  • Identify areas for process improvement, automation, efficiency and scripting wherever possible
  • Add, update and ensure accuracy of inventory and functional capacity changes
  • Co-ordinating physical server implementation
  • Request & review functional capacity reports highlighting fulfilment risks
  • Develop technology infrastructure, providing insight and implementation of future technologies which add value and bring efficiencies
  • Deliver a performant, healthy and highly available infrastructure services environment
  • Derive support requirements when working with new or changing products
  • Understand how software, network, storage & hosting technologies interact and integrate to deliver a business outcome
  • Identify environmental KPIs and provide capabilities to meet & measure
  • Integrate & Interact with regional and global colleagues, providing innovative ideas
  • Ensure a secure environment, providing appropriate tooling & technologies for running Operations.
  • Demonstrate an orientation towards business results, with the ability to understand business context of a technology project and the business value required from a new solution
  • Own and review product updates, certifying latest releases and developing deployment strategies for Operational responsibilities
  • Maximise the use of existing resources, skills and technologies for the greatest benefit
  • Focus on the configuration and orchestration of technologies to deliver seamless service performance
  • Orchestrate and lead through the provisioning process and ensure a quality handoff to the customer and for Operational responsibilities

What we need from you:

Technical Knowledge

Essential:

Maintenance, Support, Troubleshooting and Administration of:

  • Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems (Windows 2008 and above)
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 7 and above)
  • Linux & Unix (Ubuntu, Centos & FreeBSD) Administration
  • Microsoft Office
  • Virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V and/or VMWare)
  • Networking topologies, protocols & methodologies
  • Firewalls, Switches, & Routers
  • Telephony Systems (Diallers, Avaya IP Office, Avaya Desk Phones, SIP)
  • Scripting, Automation, Workflows
  • Avaya Telephony

Good technical knowledge of:

  • Ancillary Services (Active Directory, Printing, DHCP, DFS, SFTP)
  • Workspace (Microsoft RDS, VDI, SBC)
  • Monitoring & Alerting tools
  • Backup & Recovery tools
  • Patch Management & Anti-Virus tools

Desirable

  • Deep troubleshooting knowledge
    • Operating System performance and debugging
    • Network switching & routing
    • SonicWall Network Security Appliances and technologies.
  • Programming/Scripting experience and knowledge of one of:
    • Perl, C#, Powershell, HTML, VB, Python
  • Support, Troubleshooting and Administration of
    • Microsoft Exchange Server (2013 and above)
    • Storage Arrays
  • Technical knowledge of:
    • Microsoft SQL Server / MySQL
    • O365
    • Hyperconverged technologies
    • MDM
    • SSL Certificates
    • Domain Name Registration and Management
    • Information and IT Security techniques and technologies (Encryption, VPN)
    • Basic understanding of Legal and applicable regulatory standards in relation to IT and Information Security
